We loved Strike Percussion!

On Wednesday 2nd September the whole school was lucky enough to see a performance of 'Strike':
L.I: Students will explore and identify how sound is made and changed as they listen and respond to the elements of music
This was a high energy 45 minute show with styles from around the world, introducing a broad range of modern percussion.
Strike was a medallist in the 2012 New Zealander of the Year Awards, in the “Local Heroes” category, for their youth mentoring programs involving workshops, leadership training and high-end performance. Strike regularly tour throughout the world presenting their unique and exhilarating performances - they have performed with groups as diverse as the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Royal New Zealand Ballet, Hayley Westenra and Kora. 2015 sees Strike touring their new show - John Psathas’ ’Between Zero and One’ extensively throughout New Zealand and China Since 1997, Strike have performed their ‘Strike to Schools’ programme to over 1.2 million students nationwide.
We are starting a Music programme for the first four weeks of Term 4. Children will learn to respond to music and apply knowledge of the elements of music. Students will prepare and present brief performances of music, using performance skills and techniques.
